MALINIAK, Pavol: On the Organisation and Military Aspects of the Miners‘ Uprising in Banská Bystrica (1525–1526).

Thanks to the research of historian Peter Ratkoš, the social conflict involving mineworkers in Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica, and Hodruša during 1525–1526 has become one of the most thoroughly examined topics in Slovak medieval historiography. Advances in the processing of archival collections, together with heuristic and interpretative shifts since 1989, allow for the revision, supplementation, and refinement of existing knowledge concerning the course, organisation, and territorial extent of the uprising’s various stages. New findings include testimony regarding the fire in Banská Bystrica at the conclusion of the revolt, information on the insurgents’ potential allies at Ľupča Castle, and details of the suppression of the uprising based on correspondence between the towns of Banská Štiavnica and Kremnica.
