The author in his reviewed article focuses on the wide scale of questions arising in connection with the march of the troops to Crimea and the German campaign against the Soviet Union. His contribution to the detailed picture of the non-combat activates of the Slovak soldiers is valuable. He does not only contributes to the questions of the military preparation (as the title hints at), but he also looks at their everyday life in the area. The author describes various forms of training, the efforts towards a higher quality of the preparation and the application of their practical skills from the war experience of the fronts. He immensely deals with the study of their equipment and armaments and its enhancements to the later plans of their intervention in the east front. From the after-service activities he focuses on the cultural, educational and propaganda activates striving for the soldiers. Additionally, he provides the information on the supply and boarding system of the army. There is an important focus on the quite rich contacts of the soldiers with the civilians being developed in their after-service time. He also follows the demonstration of disapproval with the German occupation policy.
